  1. It was great to do this, Caroline, and thanks for co-hosting – I’ve really enjoyed revisiting Hesse!

  2. Thanks for hosting this – it gave me the nudge to finally get round to reading Hesse for the first time ( better late than never). I also discovered this very lovely blog in the process, and on the back of your review, I now have a copy of ‘Klingsor’s Last Summer’ which I’m really looking forward to!🙂

  3. Thanks for hosting this event, Caroline. I feel so sad that I was not able to participate in Hermann Hesse week. It looks like all of you had lots of fun and a wonderful time. It is amazing that Kaggsy (from Kaggsy’s Book Ramblings) managed to read ‘The Glass Bead Game’ – Wow! Thanks for all the links. I made some wonderful Hesse discoveries out there.

    • It would have been great if you had been able to join us.
It was a success for me as I read quite a lit also made some progress in the biography.
I was very impressed with Karen’s achievement and the wonderful review she wrote. I’m glad all those who participated enjoyed their books.

  4. Thanks for hosting this, Hesse wasn’t on my original plans for this year, I found certain turns of phrase and wordings in both Klingor’s Last Summer and in Klein and Wagner (write up to come) reminiscent of The Glass Bead Game, one of my favourites.

    • Thank you Pat for joining us and reading with me. Some of his sentences are wonderful. I should read The Glass Bead Game since so many people seem to think it was maybe his best. I’m looking forward to your review of Kein und Wagner. I think Jonathan might review soon as well.

  5. I have really enjoyed your posts Caroline. Especially in light of the fact that you covered works that I have not read.

I am off to check out some of the posts from other bloggers.

  6. Many thanks for hosting the Hesse week.

I managed to do a re-read of Demian and Steppenwolf, 2 books I originally read at University years ago.

Was able to appreciate them in a whole new light this time around.

I will also add several of his books, based on the interesting reviews by the participants, to my TBR pile for the annual German Literature Month in November.

  7. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it to participate as i intended – but it is great to see so many interesting reviews and I will for sure come back to Hesse in the not so far future.
