I’ve always been interested in essential oils and also used them quite frequently in the past, still I would never have thought I’d enjoy reading this wonderful book so much. Rebecca put knowledge, passion and enthusiasm into this book, and wrote it in an accessible and engaging way. It’s a real pleasure to read.
The book opens with a detailed introduction to making your own beauty products with essential oils. It gives tips and advice on which are the best carrier oils, what oils are best for the skin, which will help set a specific mood and so on. You will also find instructions on how to store your oils, how to dilute and blend them. Rebecca also enumerates all the different products that you can do with the help of this book. At the end of the introduction you find a detailed description of far over 70 essential oils, from Angelica to Ylang Ylang. Each section describes what the oil is for, how to use it and whether you have to be careful with it.
After the description comes the “recipe section”, which contains the following chapters: Bath Oils, Bath Bombs, Bath Salts, Bubble Baths, Bath Soaps, Milk Baths, Body Scrubs, Body Powders, Body Sprays, Body Lotions, Facial Scrubs, Facial Masks, Facial Creams, Facial Toners, Shampoos and Shower Gels, Toothpaste, Lip Balms and Glosses, Cuticle Oils, Hand Creams, Products for the Feet.
As you can see, the book is very rich.

Sounds interesting
I’ve never used essential oils and I don’t trust myself with the preparation of home made cosmetics.
I wouldn’t try a facila cream for the same reason but a bath oil or something like that, why not?
Good idea. But I only have time for showers -:)
Luckily there are recipes for shower gels in the book . 🙂
hey, be grateful for that!
Not sure what to make of your comment. Did you want a recipe for a shower gel?

Thanks for taking part in the tour. I’m glad you enjoyed Organic Beauty with Essential oils so much!
You’re welcome I really did enjoy it.
Thank you for the kind words in your review! I am so glad you enjoyed reading Organic Beauty With Essential Oil. Hope you will add more recipes later with pics of the products you make!
I think you did a great job. I wouldn’t have thught that I’d read the whole book but I did.
This sounds like a fantastic book! I’ve used essential oils in the past to make soaps, but I really would like to make other things. Thanks for putting this book on my radar!
It really is. And you can feel her enthusiasm. But it’s very informative too. She’s included so many recipes, there’s something for everyone.
Sounds like a fun book
It really is. Fun and informative at the same time.
can’t you also use essential oils just as a room thing and not for make up? I’ve seen devices (for want of a better word) that I thought could be used for oils.
Absolutely. That’s the way I used them. The book can help to choose because the list she provides in the introduction is very detailed.
I can think of someone who would like this book as a gift.
I’ve seen similar books before but none was as convincing.
Have you tried any of the recipes? Sounds like a visually pretty book and one to pamper yourself with!
Not yet as I have a huge choice in orgnaic brands here. Switzerland, Germany and Frnace have some of the best brands but I’ll try her bath and shower gels and some the nails products.
Essential oils are quite expensive here though and for every recipe you need at least 2 – 4 and for the next one 2 – 4 other oils. That’s my only reservation. Maybe they aren’t as expensive in the US?
It’s a nice book. I only have the e-book but even that is very well done.
I know nothing about using essential oils but I should really give them a try. There are so many toxins in products out there.
My solution to this problem is to use only organic products like Weleda, Dr Hauschka and a few other brands like that. Kibio (French). But if these are not available or for someone who wants to choose their own scents, her book is really great.
I like the idea of recipes – I’ve taken to putting essential oils in my bath and it would be fun to know how to combine them. At the moment I just add lavender or clary sage!
It is fun and it’s good to know which ones to combine or even to avoid. She mentiosn both oils often. I find they are helpful in many situations. I often use grapefruit or bergamotte in a diffuser because they are so uplifting
Marking this post 🙂
I might use the recipe one day. Thank you for sharing it
You’re welcome. There are so many great recipes in the book. And they are so easy to make.
Nice review of an interesting book, Caroline! I didn’t know that there was something called a ‘nail growth oil’ – very interesting! I also like the name ‘Ylang Ylang’ – sounds very Chinese! I think one of my schoolmate-friends will like this book very much. Nice to know that you liked the book so much. Hope you enjoy making some of those recipes and using them.
It’s a very nice book. Ylang Ylang is from Indonesia, I think. I would have assumed you have them in India as well. The scent is almost overpowering.
I use another type of nail growth oil – from a Swiss organic brand and I can tell you it works. People always ask how I manage to have such long nails. 🙂
Nice to know more about Ylang Ylang, Caroline. Interesting to know that it is from Indonesia. Also, wonderful to know that you use nail growth oil and it works 🙂 I think I will recommend this book to my friend here – I think she will be very interested in it.
I hope she will like it.
